

On 19 March 2021 took place as a virtual event, the Digital Day.
This event, one of the most emblematic events of the Portuguese Presidency in the digital sector, was organized by the Portuguese Presidency in partnership with the European Commission.
The event was hosted by Mr Thierry Breton, EU Commissioner for the Internal Market, together with the Presidency.
During this event, three statements were signed:
- The European Data Gateways Declaration looks to tap into Europe’s potential to become a world-class data hub, by focusing on international connectivity through terrestrial and submarine cables, satellite communications and other vital data infrastructures.
- The EU Startup Nations Standard Declaration expresses the political will and a commitment to act to ensure that all European startups and scaleups benefit from the best practices underpinning Europe’s and the world’s most successful startup ecosystems.
- The Declaration on a Green and Digital Transformation of the EU sets out a number of concrete actions to mobilise investments in clean and digital technologies to speed up climate action, help create jobs and growth and allow Europe to come out from the COVID 19 crisis stronger, greener and more resilient.
In an additional declaration by industry on Green Digital Coalition, CEOs of lead companies was declared their commitment to specific actions to accelerate the ICT sector’s transition towards a decarbonised, circular and zero pollution economy while at the same time contributing to an innovative, sustainable and resilient society and economy.
